Approvals in states other than NJ

CE seminars are approved by the NJ State Board of Appraisers.The 7-Hour National USPAP Update seminar is accepted in all states.Contiguous states (PA, NY, MD, DE) should accept NJ approved continuing education via reciprocity.Other states may also accept continuing education on request. Please check with your state board to confirm.

NJ and AQB Appraiser Continuing Education Requirements 
NJ Rule 13:40A-5.3 Continuing education credit-hour requirements; carryover prohibited
(a) Each applicant applying for renewal as a licensed or certified real estate appraiser shall be required to complete, by the time the renewal application is submitted to the Board, the continuing education requirements for either the certified residential, certified general, or the licensed, real estate appraiser as established by “The Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria and Interpretation of the Criteria" as promulgated by the AQB of the Appraisal Foundation as amended and supplemented, which are incorporated herein by reference as part of this rule.
( b) Carryover of continuing education credits is prohibited.

AQB REAL PROPERTY APPRAISER QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008
8. Appraisers must successfully complete the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course, or its equivalent, every two calendar years. Equivalency shall be determined through the AQB Course Approval Program or by an alternate method established by the AQB.
9. Individuals who are credentialed in more than one jurisdiction shall not have to take more than one 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course within a two calendar year period for the purposes of meeting AQB Criteria.
10. USPAP continuing education credit shall only be awarded when the course is instructed by at least one AQB certified instructor who is also a state certified appraiser.
11. The equivalent of fourteen class hours of instruction in courses or seminars for each year during the period preceding the renewal is required. For example, a two-year continuing education cycle would require twenty-eight hours. 
The class hour requirement can be fulfilled at any time during the cycle. [Emphasis added.]
